FAMILY AFFAIR: Armes family trio to share rare trip to state title game with Robinson Rockets
ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) - For the first time since 2017, Robinson baseball is headed back to the state championship game, hoping to claim the school’s first title. For the Armes family, the title game carries even more meaning.
Assistant coach John Armes will be in the dugout with both of his sons, his oldest, Mathew, serving on the coaching staff alongside him and his youngest, Landon, behind the plate as the team’s catcher.
“I never pictured there’d be a day where they’d be in the dugout together, one coaching and one playing,” said John Armes. “It’s absolutely amazing.”
All three Armes are Robinson baseball graduates, but they’d never shared the same dugout until this season, when Mathew accepted an opportunity to join the Rockets’ coaching staff.
