"Andy (Such a Fine Mayor!) - Marsh Family parody of Looking Glass's "Brandy" on Burnham vs Starmer

Given this had to be a super-rapid turnaround to get out on the day of Starmer’s resignation (and it's a school night, with no boys around), it was great to discover that the girls were well up to speed with Looking Glass’s 1972 belter “Brandy (Such a Fine Girl)” – on account of it apparently featuring in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which do tend to have great retro soundtracks.

So here’s our spin on the track with the title name switched to Andy – for Andy Burnham, the recent mayor of Manchester, whose securing of a Parliamentary seat via a by-election win last Thursday ensured the nail in the coffin for Keir Starmer’s limping tenure as the British Prime Minister. We share many people’s slight dismay that our countryfolk are once again rushing through leaders, and there’s a a sense of unease at what is to follow. Starmer ran out of road and support in the Labour Party, especially after a thumping in the local elections, but was also dealt a hard hand by the press, and perhaps no one is immune to the pattern of trial by popular opinion and newscycle, and it's now an impossible job. We'll see what Burnham has to offer!
